Black Warrior Angel (Part One)
La Escuelita Bombera de Corazón · Humboldt Park
A free stage reading of 'Black Warrior Angel (Part One)', a developing play on the fall of empire written by Xavi Burgos. Featuring performances by Alyssa Corrigan-Cuadrado, Alyssa N. Villegas Rodríguez, and Xavi Burgos, with music by Rubén Gerena. Presented as part of Afrofuturist Weekend 2026.
Black Warrior Angel intends to be another loving guide to Africa’s global descendents in a quest for answers. This is the first in a two-part reading, as part of Burgos' series of new art works titled, “A New History of the Puerto Rican Peoples,” told in poetry, play, song, fabric, painting, performance, music, dance, ritual, and revolution.
