The fine print
Privacy
We collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
The short version
The Brown Line is a small, independent publication. We collect as little as possible, we don't sell your data, and we don't run ad-tracking networks. This page explains what happens when you read the site, subscribe, submit an event, or support us.
Newsletter
When you subscribe, your email address is handled by our newsletter provider, Beehiiv, to send you the newsletter and basic delivery analytics. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any issue.
Event submissions
When you submit an event, we collect the details you provide (including your name and, optionally, your email so we can follow up). Submissions are reviewed by a human before anything is published. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to keep spam and bots out of the form.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic (like page views and referrers). Analytics cookies are only set after you accept the consent banner; until you decide, GA4 sends cookieless pings that cannot identify you. If you decline, analytics stays off, and your choice is remembered in your browser. We never build advertising profiles.
Support payments
Support payments are processed by Stripe on their own secure pages. We never see or store your card details. Stripe handles payment information under its own privacy policy.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, and you can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. Just email us and we will take care of it.
